Stacie Freudenberg

A native of Tainan, Taiwan, Ting-Li Wang immigrated to Syosset, NY when she was 12 years old. As an undergraduate at Cornell University, she studied government and international relations. Her interest in documentary filmmaking led her to Columbia Graduate School of Journalism where she discovered the wonder and power of photography.

In 1995, Ms. Wang enrolled in Ohio University's graduate photojournalism program to become a better storyteller. It is in the small towns of Kansas, Michigan, and Virginia during various internships that she discovered her passion to photograph ordinary people going about life, celebrating triumphs and weathering obstacles. She was named National Press Photographer Association's Region Three Photographer of the Year in 2000 when she was a staff photographer at The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, VA.

In the fall of 2000, Ms. Wang joined the photo staff at The New York Times. She covered her first national political campaign with John Edwards and John Kerry in 2004. Working in Costa Rica, Cuba, China, and Bali for the Travel Section rank among her favorite assignments. She is also fascinated with circus life.
